THE annual general meeting of Bridlington Cricket Club was held at the clubhouse, Dukes Park.
Chairman Bill Emmerson opened a well attended meeting with the good news that last year's president and long serving member Chris Chapman was showing slight improvement from his severe stroke in December and everyone at the club wishes him a full and speedy recovery.

Before his illness Chapman had indicated he would like to stand down as president as there were many former players who he would like to see given the chance of this position.

Barry Snowden, former first team captain and pace bowler, was invited to take over and accepted, saying it would be an honour and he would be delighted to take over from Chapman who had done a fine job for the last two years.

Otherwise things were pretty much the same at the club. Jim Crow continues as secretary and fixtures secretary, Steve Briggs as treasurer and Roger Elliott as auditor.

Bill Emmerson thanked them all for their hard work throughout the year.
The two committee members retiring by rota, Emmerson and Carl Parkin, offered themselves for re-election and both were unanimously re-elected.

On the field Steve Garton continues as first team captain with Sam Edmundson again vice-captain. Steve Lount retains the second team captaincy with Greg Miller as vice-captain.

Roger Elliott also continues as third team captain with Dave Cullen his vice-captain.

Sam Edmundson takes over as Sunday and friendly captain from Richard Lount, but Lount will continue as evening league team captain.

Steven Lount and Dave Cullen will continue as the cricket club's representatives on the Bridlington Sports and Community Club's Executive Committee, and Simon Brooke continues as child welfare officer.

Sue Stockdale and Maureen Cowan will be doing the scoring once again, and were thanked for the first class job they do.

The third team may have a few problems scorer wise, as Glen Mathews has taken on a new job and may not be available for the full season.

Tickets and place cards for the forthcoming dinner to be held at the Expanse Hotel on Saturday February 27 were distributed.

Anyone wishing to attend the dinner can contact secretary Jim Crow on Bridlington 606864 or 07818 404663.
