About Us

Bridlington Cricket Club is situated at Dukes Park Recreation Ground, Bridlington. The Cricket Club was founded in 1820 and cricket has been played at Dukes Park for almost 150 years. There are records, photographs and scorebooks dating back to the early 1900’s. Indeed, there has been a book written by a local historian which details many of the early matches. The original pavilion was built in about 1910 stood in the north west corner of the ground. This traditional type of pavilion was destroyed by fire in 1981. The Club has always had strong links with Yorkshire County Cricket Club and hosted many Yorkshire 2nd X1 matches up until the early 1960’s.Until 1993, the Council owned and maintained the cricket ground when it was then leased to the cricket club. Bridlington Cricket Club is proud of its history but we are looking to the future.

Bridlington Cricket Club is a founder member of Bridlington Sports and Community Club (BSCC) which was established in 1997 to draw together 5 existing sports clubs to further encourage participation in sport in Bridlington.

Cricket is played every Saturday and Sunday at Dukes Park during the summer and most evenings. The 1st X1 is well established in the York Senior League. The 2nd and 3rd X1’s play in the Beckett League and Derwent Valley League respectively. The square at Dukes Park has recently been re-laid and is now regarded as one of the best in the district. The development continues however. In 2005 we will be installing a non-turf pitch and a bowling machine to help the development of junior players. In 2004, the Club was awarded Level 1of the East Riding Club Accreditation Scheme (ERCAS) which recognises the standards set by the Club to ensure the provision of safe, quality sporting opportunities for young people with Level 2 been awarded a year later

We have a clearly defined development strategy which when fully implemented will put Bridlington Cricket Club at the centre of sporting and community development in East Yorkshire. Our priority is, as it always has been the promotion and development of the game of cricket, particularly at youth level. The Club continues to strengthen its links to the local junior and secondary schools in the area and host an annual  Kwik Cricket competition in summer . Bridlington Cricket Club will play its part in the regeneration of the town. We believe that the great game of cricket can play an important part in strengthening the community by encouraging people to play sport for health and enjoyment.
